The 50mm lens, though producing lovely portraits , does have limitations in other situations. The first shot I did with this lens had the flower head in the middle of the frame, with lots of space around it. I then thought the better way to present this was to employ the rule of thirds & I think it works much better.
Quite an interesting comparison.

Needs to be viewed on black to get the benefit of the rule of thirds but I also do like this stunning shot on white. In addition to portraits, I like my nifty fifty for atmospheric flower and nature macros. Hopeless for walkabout street shots though!

@quietpurplehaze I agree it’s good for flowers too. Also the f1.8 is nice for dof & bokeh. It has limitations, but then you would just switch to another lens (which obviously you can’t do for this challenge).
