I was out in the garden today seizing the good light and lack of wind... great for macro shots especially because I work with extension tubes. I decided to stick with one subject only because I realized that my "eye" and creativity for framing improves at every shot. Also after a couple of shots I figure the best exposure... like here, which was almost 1.5 underexposed.
Thank you for your visit and feedback. As usual truly appreciated.
INSTANT fav! Best pic maybe ever I have seen of this spider..it's a Venusta Orchard spider, right? Anyway, the close up clarity of a few web likes and then the spider. Gorgeous ...the background is great too. I need to learn to do that adjusting of exposure. I see where it is on my camera, but when I go to move it, it make the indicator lines be on both side of the scale and they head towards the plus and the negative side. What is up with that? I need to read my manual or book and learn this trick! I have big problems with exposure. This is greattttttt!
@espyetta , hey Mary Beth... many thanks for wonderful feedback and questions... so here it goes:
I don't have macro lens... at least not yet. For this shot I used my 3 extension tubes together connected to my 270 mm which for me gets the best results in terms of sharpness.
@espyetta , I know exactly what you mean by the problem with the exposure reading. My camera does the very same thing. By now I figured the correct exposure is the one when you looking through the viewfinder and not the LCD display.
To get the correct exposure for this shot what I did is to set the af point selection in the middle, where I do the focus on the spider. If I don't do this the exposure says I have to increase it where in fact I should keep at lower exposure since I wanna get the spider and the web.
Do you know how to change the af selection? It is the upper button on the very high right side of the camera... where you can zoom in and out when you see the pic in the LCD.
I don't know what kind of spider is that... I appreciate your info.
Excellent Lara! I totally agree on using only one subject and mastering it first. Often we try to go after too much subjects and master none. Fav for the pic and your efforts. :)
@ptowncook , you can't give up!!! Keep trying that you well get there... for macro shot remember to always try at the brightest day light and when there is no wind.
Just amazing... I'm a bit like you, fixing on one or two subjects and then working till I get the best shot (not possible with street photography shots that I like doing though!)
