The Pack

Heard that the local hunt was meeting down the road from our farm so thought it would make a good photo opportunity, plus they hand out free cake, sausage rolls and glasses of port or whisky! Think it's important to clarify that they no longer hunt foxes , but a scent that's been laid down in advance. I love the hounds, although I've heard they don't make good dogs as pets.

Thank you for the lovely response to my rugby picture, , my husband is nursing a fair few wounds from the day!
super shot. Oooh freebies...does everyone get the freebies? Always felt sorry for hunting dogs...but at least they have each other. Love the shot though

My neighbor growing up used to keep hounds, and he WAS a fox hunter! Had a place in upstate New York special for hunting. Great photograph! It's hard to capture moving things sometimes. :-)

A lovely shot of the dogs. Had always thought they would be aggressive but my last village had hunt kennels and when they had the xmas gathering the dogs just ran around getting as much attention as they could.

Lovely shot of the hounds. I have mixed feelings about the hunt for a variety of reasons. Having been brought up I the countryside I've seen many sides to them not all good..

Amazing composition!! I've never heard of this "hunt" event .. but I'm glad they don't actually hunt foxes. Anyway, what a pack of cuties. Fav!

What a wonderful shot - they all look so placid and well behaved. You have caught all their expressions so well. Good to hear they don't actually hunt foxes.

@huvesaker they serve the drink and food to those on horseback first and then usually have plenty left for any spectators

@jessticulate thank you, I just use the VSCO app on the iPad to process, think it was free at the time , very easy way to edit images with some nice presets

@rjb71 yes I'm not keen on the sport idea of hunting animals but at the same time I've seen an increase of fox attacks on our lambs on our farm since the ban

@stevepo thanks steve , I was surprised by how friendly they were too , I think as long as they get lots of exercise they are well behaved

@carvl TBH I have no issue with the hunting of foxes if it's required it's more the fact the hounds are very much a commodity and are frequently destroyed if they don't fit the bill. :(

@rjb71 gosh I didn't realise that , that's terrible
