EXTRAS: Cast Off by casablanca

EXTRAS: Cast Off

Watching the nurse use the circular saw to cut the cast off was fun! Then the scissors for the fleece underlay.

So, update on hubby.

Cast has come off, but he cannot weight bear yet. He is healing but is not fully healed yet. So she has given him an Airboot and he has to wear that all the time, even at night, for the next 2 weeks while we await a CT Scan to see what the details are on all those multiple breaks. He can rest it on the floor but not put his weight on it yet.

So we are making progress. It feels positive anyway, heading in the right direction.
Definitely right direction. Hope you are feeling better too! I so remember that circular saw as a child when I broke my arm!

Wonderful news!! Circular saw though?? The mind boggles a bit. At least Paul can scratch those annoying itches now - just undo that Boot and go for it - Yea!! And 2 weeks sounds pretty quick for the next step - a real turning point. Thanks for the update and please give Paul our best wishes. XX

Great progress

@robz You should have seen his face!! The saw makes quite a noise and it tickles as it brushes near the skin!! Doesn't cut the skin, only the cast - it is a clever thing, but it is a tad terrifying when someone takes a saw to your leg!! Thanks, I will pass on your kind wishes. xxx

There is nothing so scary as seeing that circular saw coming towards your leg.....they could miss the cast or go too deep...all that goes through your head! Glad things are progressing well, will be hard not to automatically put his weight down by mistake!

Sounds like it's all going in the right direction at long last. Not too sure what an AirBoot is, will be interested to see the photos.

I remember what a relief it was to get my cast off--it is a little claustrophobic to wear one for so many weeks. When I was finally able to bear weight, it was in swimming pool therapy, and it was joyous!

Yay

So glad he is going in the right direction. Even after he can put weight on his foot again it will probably be a while before he is able to walk properly again I reckon, so prepare for that just in case. I thought I would be up and running as soon as the cast and the boot came off but it wasn't to be. It took another 3 months before I was able to walk properly and not walk like an 'old person'
