Festive Sottoriva

There is a street in Verona that runs along the river and whose level is lower than the river. In fact it is called sottoriva (under the bank). Now it is protected by high embankment to avoid floodings. It's a romantic place with many small restaurants and cafés that have now dressed up for the holidays
That sounds so intriguing- a road under the river! Nice shot!

@olivetreeann I'm sorry I expressed my self wrongly. In this case sotto does not mean under but attached to or just very close to, at the level of. In fact the street was at the same level of the river and was regularly invaded by the waters, until the embankments were built. Thank you for your comment Ann

The person in silhouette makes this shot.

@jgpittenger Jane it’s not scary, especially during the day with all the lights and the people going by. Last January Mona and I fearlessspent an evening there with all the shops closed and only the two of us taking pictures with our tripods

A vanishing point so well shown.

works really well with that festive explosion in the corner. And of course the pedestrian being perfectly placed.

It sounds lovely. It sounds like before they built the embankments, those might have been the World's First Swim-up Bars. I would like to see that street someday.
