These are the Procuratie, the portico surrounding the square, reflected in the water.
Junko @jyokota and I went photowalking in Venice to see the effects of the high tide of the previous days. Today's tide was less high, but few people were around, mainly locals cleaning up their shops. Seagulls were celebrating on the residues hiding underwater.
Junko's photo is here https://365project.org/jyokota/365/2019-11-19
I like the way the bird is seeming to fly off with the message, "The Piazza San Marco is flooded!" The lines work well for the composition, and the reflections tell the story of the flooding.
We saw some photos in our news coverage here in Oz. One that really struck home was a photo of a shop with the proprietor in water way above the knees serving two customers who were also standing in similarly deep water. The most ironic coverage reported here was that of a meeting of the city council which had just passing a motion denying any climate change when the council chambers were inundated with water which ruined furniture, fitting and electrical sockets. I must fav this shot both for the photo itself, and for the record of what we're doing to our planet.
@domenicododaro Thank you Domenico. Junko and I missed you a lot. It would have been great to have a larger group of 365ers with us! Next time (not next high tide though!
Sad to see Venice under water, especially at this time of year, how can the walls dry, with so little sun. Like Peter said, you captured the situation so well!
Hope to be all together for the next photowalk in Italy... 😎
