Today I'm going to post the Warriors of Riace, recuperated from the sea by an amateur scuba in 1972. Very little in known about them, where were they directed at the time of the shipwreck, and where were they coming from. The statues are made of bronze, but the lips and the nipples are made of copper or lead, to give the pink colour, the eyelashes are ivory, the eyes are made of glass and limestone and the teeth are covered with silver.The bodies are 2 meters tall, completely naked to show a powerful musculature. They are now preserved in the Museum of Magna Grecia in Reggio Calabria and are well worth the trip. On black please
