crossing the finish line by catsmeowb

crossing the finish line

this rider came in second; i only managed to capture half of the first place rider! am planning to create a book for mack at the end of the season so am practicing many different types of shots and thought something like this would be cool for him to have and want it to be good by the time i try and catch him going by.
A photo book sounds a fabulous idea

@claireuk have you ever made one? they are so much fun. once i figured out how to add my own text and didn't have to stick with the formats i really like giving them as gifts. nice way to save photos, too.

@gerry thank you, Gerry. i took quite a few of her, from different perspectives, trying to figure out how she would look in the book. i really enjoy how she looks framed against the mountains.

@claireuk the first one i did was for logan's 1st birthday. i had started a found alphabet challenge here but did not finish it when malcolm had a shoulder operation so i used those photos and created an ABC book for him. it was not all 'found' letters - what i love most about it is that when read out loud, it sounds just like me.

@mitchell50 thank you so much. i only have the one lens so far - am trying to decide on another but money is very tight right now as the logging industry is sort of shut down due to weather so i am in a holding pattern - but it gives me plenty of time to think about what direction i should go in.

@mjmaven the people in the organization are terrific. very supportive of each other. i have been so impressed each time i have gone. thank you, Shirley.

@alia_801 thank you. i also want mack to have shots of the other riders, of people he has met and made friends with. the book should be about him but also about the experience he has has had and the memories he has made. or at least, that is my plan.

What a lovely action shot. I like your processing and the book idea :)

great capture of the action, camille. this is my get-pushed challenge this week- action shot with fast shutter speed. i stalked some bicyclists at an intersection today and didn't get a single good shot. i wish i had somewhere like this to go for practice. you're really getting back into the swing of things as far as your photography is concerned. excellent!

@dishaparekh176 thank you! i appreciate the encouragement so much.

@summerfield are the horses racing? you could get great shots there. or traffic leaving stop lights. people legs crossing the streets - b&w would be coolio - the office woman sorting mail, that would be an awesome shot, the paper and their hands moving quickly. i put my camera on aperture, set the f-stop, iso, multi-shot, and the speed takes care of itself. just make sure you have your iso where you want it or the multi-shot will lag.

@shepherdman thank you. took a few times before i actually captured a bike in the shot!
