Phoenix Net Loft, Britannia Shipyards by cdcook48

Phoenix Net Loft, Britannia Shipyards

Built in 1938 to repair and store fishing nets it is one of the last surviving structures associated with the Phoenix cannery, the oldest fish cannery in Steveston. It is slated for deconstruction and will be partially rebuilt and incorporated into the Britannia Shipyards Historic site.

@bkbinthecity It will actually be rebuilt where it stands. The net loft is one of the last components of an ongoing project by the City of Richmond to reconstruct as completely and historically accurate as possible a site, Britannia Shipyards, that represents a major part of the city’s history; i.e. the fishing industry that the village of Steveston was built around. It is now a major tourist attraction and one of my favourite places to shoot. Hollywood has discovered it as well and a number of movies and tv series have been shot here.
