Swans, Finn Slough by cdcook48

Swans, Finn Slough

As you may already know, swans mate for life and this pair have lived in Finn Slough for a number of years. They are almost always together and cruise up and down the slough feeding and sometimes getting handouts from the residents. Occasionally they can be seen around the Britannia Shipyards, about a mile and a half downriver. Here they are having lunch with their friends the Mallards
Beautiful!

I Love this scene with those old textures and tones in the background! Such a great shot and composition. The swans really stand out beautifully.

@delboy207 A slough, at least in this case, is a small tidal channel off the Fraser River. There are a number of them around the mouth of the Fraser. On this one, Finn Slough, a small community of stilt homes was established in the late 1800’s by Finnish fisherman. It is still an active community today although, most of the fishermen have left, and it is an interesting place for a photographer. I shoot there often. If you click on the tag you can see some of the other photos from there that I have posted on 365.

Fantastic shot, this is definitely a keeper, I love it. Have you ever thought of selling your photography in Richmond?

Very interesting background… glad you tagged it as a derelict boat… I hadn’t quite figured it out. What a juxtaposition of the water fowl and the derelict boat.
