I am running behind myself today. I did Baby Bear this morning. It is always a hectic morning. We had 30ish families but it felt like 300. Kids are out of school so it seemed like every Mom brought about 5 kids with her to get into things. That makes me the bad guy as I end up being the one making them stay with their mothers. A friend of mine gave me 124 pair of new shoes. It looked like a shoe store as we tried fitting little ones with new shoes!
We spent part of our afternoon at the vet. Charlie has to be my photo today. He has been having arthritis type problems for a while now, he is almost 9, but he is getting worse. He is really bothered by his front right shoulder. He has a delicate tummy and he can't take the common doggie anti inflammatory drugs. I give him a shot every three weeks, glucosamine, fish oil and now pain meds. Our vet is sending him to an Orthopedic vet maybe to scope his shoulder.
He is too young for this. Any remedies that you might know of please pass them along. And keep a good thought for Chuck. He is my Great Protector Boy and my Velcro Dog.
A very handsome pooch and lovely portrait. We gave our goldie "cartrophen" injections to aid his joints for a number of years Cathy, it may be an anti inflammatory though, not sure.
As in "stuck to you like velcro"? He is adorable - having a dog who suffers is one of the saddest things that can happen. . .good luck with his treatments.
@clmiller Thank you Caren. We appreciate the prayers. @shirljess They think for themselves, that is for sure. @vskolnik Thanks Vee. @grammyn Thanks Katy. He's my guy. @marieooi Thank you Marie. @kellc Thanks Kelly. I'll ask the ortho. I give him Adequan injections which sounds like close to the same thing but any hint is appreciated. @kerristephens Thanks Kerri. I think so. @nikkic Nikki I think that is an anti inflammatory and he can't stomach them. @marlboromaam Thank you Maggie. I hope so, too. @wannabe Thanks Catherine. That is what I keep telling him - too young. @lyno Yes, Lyn, just like velcro. He follows me just about everywhere. @pawar_ramesh Making me laugh Ramesh. @grannysue I know Linda. My shoulder gets sore, too. @sugarmuser He thinks so @rwhite Thanks Rosie. @sangwann He really is a tender heart. @sabine That is because we were tempting him with a treat to perk him up. He had been looking pretty puny. @jenniferruge Thank you Jennifer. @traeumerlein87 Thanks Lisa. @boogie Thank you Mags. @cindymc He is a sweetie. @allie912 He is. He is very aware that he is the same breed that the Queen adores. @yonnie Thanks Yvonne. @carolmw Thanks Carol. I hope we find an answer.
Gorgeous portrait.
We had a dog whose tummy could not support the medicine she needed, but her vet presribed a medicine that calmed the tummy problems and made it possible for her to have the medicine she needed. Might not be suitable for Chuck, but I do hope you find a solution.
@redrucksack I was thinking of that Eva. I'm going to talk to the doc. @humphreyhippo I love a tongue shot on a dog. @meisen325 Thanks Monica. Me, too. He's my guy. @kchuk Thank you Elyse. We are taking all the prayers we can get.
He is so adorable! This is such a great portrait! I had a german shepard that suffered from an immune disease at 6 years old. After many blood transfusions and great vets we were able to save her. She lived 5 more years. It was her hips that failed her in the end. It is hard when a dog is young with medical problems. Have you tried Rimadyl? It is a non-steroidal anti-inflamatory and easier on the stomach. She took them for 5 years with no side effects. I hope Charlie is feeling better soon.
