I can name that flower in ........

I think you are going to see more of this one so it would be even more fun if I knew what it was. I fell in love with this flower last year at an evening photo class that I took. I love the orange color and the sort of exploding top. It has sort of ferny leaves and grows to about 4 feet tall or so. I couldn't find it at any nursery that I tried so a friend of mine that had her own floral shop went with me to the park one day and we left with an envelope of seeds. They sat on the basement window sill all winter and are finally blooming in my back yard. This is the first bloom! I love flowers but this is my first attempt to reproduce one and I made it. I lave about six of the plants coming up in the garden so this will be coming back when it thickens up a bit.
I don't her name, but I could fall in love with her too!

What fun that must have been, Cathy! You got to learn from the class and get those seeds at the same time. And now you see the results ... will love looking at your upcoming photos. This orange is so vibrant and beautiful. Amazing.

Really great flower shot, focussing in on the central part and hinting at the petals really works.

The center looks like floral fireworks!

Well gosh I'd say it's a sort of marigold but then I think
this flower by any other name would look as excellent! (To misquote Shakespeare) Love the pov

Love the orange against that soft olive green background.

Like @filsie65 I thought a type of marigold at first from the thumbnail, but I guess you'd know a marigold if you saw one, so will count that out. Would love to know if you find out. Great shot, by the way. Agree with @sugarmuser that it's like a 'twirling skirt'.

@wannabe Thanks so much for the FAV. And I can't tell you how satisfying to grow my first ever thing from seed that I literally striped the seeds off the plant.
@webfoot Thanks Paul. I love the color.
@vickisfotos They do - but are way too tall for marigolds. I might post a photo from last year to show how big these suckers get if I have room in an album. @marilyn That just might be it. These get really tall.
@myautofocuslife Gives that warm fuzzy feeling.
@sangwann Thanks Dione. @princesicita If you see it again I'd appreciate a shout.
