Sort of speaks for itself. In all honesty, the sort of silvery blob is the pooper scooper that has a home in the back of the garden by the shed. I love the cooler nights and hate the overcast. I can already feel that the achy parts are achier. I've decided to self diagnose that I have SAD - seasonal affective disorder. I mourn the loss of warmth and sunshine almost as much as the garden.
This is a great shot, the colours are still so rich and 'warm'.... Oooops should I even say that word! Chin up Cathy, just consider the changing cooler months as the intermission between great events!
@aurorajane I'm trying to remember that each day is a gift and to not "wish my life away" as my Mom would say. I am going to try and celebrate Winter this year.........try is the operative word.
This is a great shot with lovely focus, tones and light. We will not be seeing the fall you are having down here for at least another month or six weeks. Sunny days here with cool nights, low humidity, gorgeous blue skies daily: we call this chamber of commerce weather!
This is such a beautiful shot--so very different. I must admit moving from my lovely California to the frozen north has taken a number of years for me and my body to adjust.
@cdonohoue . . . Yes, Cathy, as the message on my fridge magnet says, "Every day is a gift; that's why they call it 'The present'"! Oh, and poor little flower . . . I can almost hear the violins playing for it!
@soboy5 Do you ever go north to see the vivid fall colors? I really do love fall - just hate the drearies. @yonnie I don't know how you did that. It gets more than cold enough here for me. @happypat Thanks Pat. @lwain Thank you Lindy. What kind words. @wordpixman Exactly. @maggiemae I am with you on the hot soup. I so wish we had a fireplace.
There is beauty, even in decay and dying, and you have captured that really well here Cathy. I have to say I agree with Maggie about the winter though... snuggling up on the sofa, twinkly lights, slouchy clothes and xmas food!
Ah, yes - the pooper scooper! Ours gets a good work out, but not as much as yours! Lovely shot! Enjoy fall with the wonderful colours, crisp evenings and the smell of woodsmoke. Soon, we'll have Christmas to look forward to. After that, I'll join you in the doldrums until spring!
definitely it says goodbye to summer! my friend has SAD and has been using a special light to combat depression in some of her rooms...she really does believe it has helped her.
When I saw this in the thumnail I thought it looked a little sad, but eveidently so is the photographer! We rae coming into summer and I can't wait....not meaning to rub it in of course!
Even so that is one beautiful photgraph and illustrates the end of summer perfectly, stunning. Now just you start thinking of all the good things winter brings!!
This is a stunning shot. I keep coming back to it. Gotta be a fav. As for SAD, I diagnosed myself with that years ago...shame we haven't had much of a Summer this year! xx
love all your flower captures and especially this one! you must have a gorgeous garden. may i ask what lens you are using? i love how you turned the last vestiges of summer into an enduring image of beauty.
@mellow The lens is a 60mm Tamron macro lens that I have been totally in love with since the day I got it. Most of what you see is taken with this lens. Thank you. This is my favorite Fall shot.
@yonnie I don't know how you did that. It gets more than cold enough here for me.
@happypat Thanks Pat.
@lwain Thank you Lindy. What kind words.
@wordpixman Exactly.
@maggiemae I am with you on the hot soup. I so wish we had a fireplace.
