This is one of the incredible old buildings at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. They used to use it for burials that were close by but I don't think it is used at all anymore. My New Year's Resolution is easy - I don't want to end up here except as a visitor. I had to go today with some bread to check on my buddy the swan. I was getting worried, but finally found him in the lake right behind this chapel - not one of his most frequented hangouts. The lakes are starting to freeze so I was really glad that I remembered the bread today.
The gray is very representative of our weather.
Fav! You are starting the New Year out with a fantastic photo! Love the architecture (but I totally understand why you don't want to be anything other than a visitor there), the black and white, the HDR and composition!
Fabulous gothic shot Cathy and I am so pleased your Swan Prince is doing ok. Quite relieved you took bread for him. My daughter Lucy @streetlyend reared a wild duck and released him into the local river, and she still checks up on him from time to time - its wonderful how she recognises Clarence!
Okay, Cathy, I don't have a clue how to do this and am going to have to google this so that I can attempt to learn how to edit and come up with a shot like this before my year is up. This is just gorgeous. Fav for me.
@lyno I was there New Year's Day! See, we could have met at the cemetery.........I found him right at the foot of this chapel, which is further over than I usually see him. I'd taken bread so him and a few of his duck buddies got a little New Year's Cheer. Did you notice that the ponds are freezing over? I have a photo of him in my other album. Such a gray day yesterday I had to do both in B&W
Hello Cathy, greetings from Edmonton Canada. I came across this on the browse page. I love old buildings and cemetries. I have never seen a building this large in a cemetery before. Love the look you used in this shot
