Not a great shot, but here it is. I am a collector of many things. I have a particular porcelain that I love and many old teacups and saucers. I have a pewter collection started many years ago and I love jewelry and beads for my bracelets. But the painted slate collection is by far the one that got the most out of hand. I have been collecting these for about 25 years. It all started in a small bakery in Vermillion, Ohio. We were on vacation and I bought the first one. Today there are roughly 140 on the kitchen walls and a few in other places. Some of these are really gorgeous and some just make me laugh. After a while I got a lot smarter about it and started writing where I got it and the year on the back of them. When we painted the kitchen last I took photos to get them back up correctly. I love this old house. My Dad put the beams on the ceiling in the kitchen. We painted it three different shades - sort of creamsicle.
What a great collection, Cathy. Every one must have a special memory for you. I like the way you've arranged them and this is a lovely shot of one of your passions.
Love your collection ... I think that things like this make a home a "home!" I bought a piece of painted slate for a friend ... with pansies painted on it and it went right into her garden which was full of pansies.!
wow, that's quite a collection! I've run out of room, so I'm not allowed to buy any more collectables - if I buy one, I have to get rid of one. We're hoping to downsize in a few years, so I have to develop some discipline.
