I'm home! I have so much to show to all of you. You have no idea how often I thought of this community as I drug a tripod all over Maui - and a camera bag too heavy to carry. This is sunset on the Haleakala volcano - House of the Sun. Most go for sunrise but it is a harrowing drive at best and we decided on sunset. I was in awe. I took shots and I prayed in gratitude for being able to be there to see a sight like this one. It was in the high 70's below and the high 30's at the summit as I looked into the moon like crater with wind gusts that almost took me off of my feet. There were signs warning about climbing around at that altitude but I was like a mountain goat taking shot after shot - and don't worry, you will see a lot of them. That is an observatory to the left that is not open to the public. Tom says, and I agree with him, that before that camera became a part of me and I became a part of this community, that I would never have fought the volcano and the wind to get the shot! This is my gift to all of you.
If I could fave twice I would. Can't wait to see more. I so want to go there. Love that your hubby put up with you lugging all that stuff and stopping to take this shot!!
Glad you are safely back home and sound as if you appreciate being there though I'm sure your trip would have been a great one. This is a superb photo and deserves a fav!
Wow, wow, wow. Thank you for this beautiful gift. I've been there for the sunrise, but not for the sunset. You captured it beautifully. Fav for me. Welcome home.
