I hate meetings - and that is particularly bad because I am a proud Presbyterian. Presbyterians will have a meeting to figure out when and where meetings should be held. Tonight's is a session meeting. Hard facts are coming our way and can no longer be avoided. This congregation has struggled for so very long. We still feel that God is calling us to be the church, but that gets more difficult with each passing year as our numbers and finances dwindle. Those older than me are dying or no longer able to attend for one reason or another. Those younger than me just aren't very involved. My age is retiring and money is tight with changing income levels.
This congregation has been fighting for so very long. Unless a miracle is headed our way there is no other answer than folding the tent. I have no idea where we will go or what the roadmap looks like of how we will get there. Some of us have been worshipping together for over 60 years. I just can't imagine church without them. I know that God has a plan. I pray that whatever it is we have the courage to follow it.
