Tom and I were working on finding some laughter. I ended up belly laughing about Anna Jane, my Mom. We were passing Xavier University where my cousin's child had married at their chapel. The reception was so swanky, according to Mom, that they gave her one of those Instamatic cameras to bring home! I almost wet my pants laughing at that one so we were on a roll.

Tom told the story about the time Mom and my Aunt Marge had gone to a fancy hotel to hear some music and my Aunt saw someone that she knew and was yelling across the room at "Schitzy." I can't remember the exact last name of the man but this is enough.

Then the story Mom used to tell about my Uncle Willie. He tried like crazy to enter the service during WWII. They kept turning him down because he was blind in one eye and deaf in one ear from a childhood firecracker gone wrong accident - but he was a dead eye shot. They finally took him towards the end as a medic. He was home on leave before they sent him to Europe. He had to explain to my grandmother, the most modest woman to walk the earth, what all of the balloons were that she found floating on top of her wringer washer.

My Mom loved a good story - whether she was the story or telling it on someone else.
Today I am honored when someone tells me that I remind them of my Mother. I am positive that she had a hand in yesterday's belly laughs.
Beautiful image with such lovely details, colors, composition...great narrative too :)

Oh, Cathy. You are so deserving of some belly laughs after your last few days! I'm so happy that you're able to remember these funny stories from your mom. Sounds like it was a great family.

An absolutely stunning photo that's even better on black! Very impressive detail.
