In Linesville, PA, at the Lake Pymatuning Spillway, there is a place where people throw bread into the water to feed the carp. It's insane! There are thousands and THOUSANDS of carp there - HUGE fish with great big mouths that are practically laying on top of each other to get near the concrete walkway where people stand to throw the bread. It's become quite a tourist attraction and it seems like there are always lots of people there - you can even buy souvenier T-shirts! Cheryl and I were totally creeped out - it just can't be healthy for the fish to be so crowded OR to eat that much bread...! I also posted a short video on YouTube, if you think you want to see more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_GRiPl_Vt4
WOAH! That's a LOT of fish!

This does seem strangely unnatural!

That's whacky and just wrong in so many ways.

I looked at your you-tube link and googled the website for the spillway -- wow, this is so wierd !!!!! The website said that its also said that the carp are so thick in masses that the ducks can walk on them (unknown if the ducks actually do).
I am so glad you posted this picture -- its so interesting seeing pictures of new places and things and wildlife that you otherwise would not know about.
Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH, for posting this most interesting photo.

Creeped me out a little bit too...yes, it is thick enough for the geese to walk on the fish...and these are BIG fish with BIG mouths...I think a good name for this place would be CARPORT...but they didn't ask me...and Cindy, this is a great photo!

Great photo Cindy but I agree...it creeps me out also. It's like that at Myrtle Beach. I think it's called Barefoot Landing where you can feed the fish. It's like they are fighting to get the food.

Sooo ugly but yet a part of nature to be appreciated. Takes me back to kid days and the carp at an amusement park's lake.

There's loads of them. As you say is it really good for the fish. Good shot.

Nice shot. Where in PA do you live? I am in Schuylkill county.

I have a shot like this of the golden koi in YuYuan garden Shanghai last year climbing all over each other to get the bits of bread they knew were going to get thrown in when they saw people on the bridge. The over crowding looks as intense here.
