green snap dragon

that is the artists name for this one. i was there when it was installed and wasn't too impressed but...............you have to see it when there is a breeze! it rotates, spins, the petals twirl. and on a quiet sunday morning sunrise it is really quite special!
Wow! I can almost imagine all that motion - very neat!

Very cool! And the sky is amazing! I really like all the public sculpture/artwork GJT has to offer.

It really towers over the town! Sky is perfect backdrop.

I would love to have something like this in my yard. I find this kind of art really fascinating. Love the dramatic sky against it.

@dmortega the plaque says it can be yours for $17,400!

I love the colors of the sky. I have sat here staring at this sculpture trying to imagine it rotating, spinning, and petals twirling -- that must be something to see !!! I find it very interesting but I fear that at $17,400. it will NEVER live in my yard !!!

Wonderful....The colors behind it add so much to it.

@chard --- Well, therein lies the problem. Only the government and really rich people can afford this kind of art. Hmmmm.... SAD!!!! I do love this kind of art. ;-)

Great one.

you must have a great city council who really supports the arts. Would love to see this in action. You have been having plenty of early mornings these days!

Lovely shot against that beautiful sky :)

@andifree not the city council its a private group..art on the corner. most of these are on loan for one year, sculptors around the country compete to have their work here.

The sculpture seems magnificent and the fact that it is a mobile is so neat...I love this kind of stuff and your photo does it justice...for the money I must settle on my roof vent ... http://365project.org/greenpots/365/2010-08-22

Great shot. The colors, lighting and the background really make this shot.

Very neat sculpture! And what a beautiful sunrise....um, but a Sunday sunrise? You were up that early on a Sunday?

This looks ready made to be mobile! Funny that on a breezy day you might have gotten the motion, but you'd never have had that beautiful sunrise, too!

That's beautiful! The kind of sculpture that can take on so many different forms and seems like one you could sit and watch for a long time. Reminds me of one in Porter Square, Cambridge, MA : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Artportersqmass.jpg same type of deal - just sails with the wind...
