This is my first summer on 365, so I decided to document things that make my summer...
Summers are very important in my life, and not just because I love summer...
I will try to post bits and pieces of those important things.
First of all I spend most of my summers in this small house. My parent built it, somewhere in 70's, and since I was a 6 year old I was running around.
Made great friendships, Even met my husband here- but that came much later of course-
I remember in the beginning we didn't have running water, we had to use spring water to drink, and rain water for other things. We didn't have but one store- you had to wait in line to get the bred early before 7 am (I remember collapsing once, so they never sent me again). We traveled almost 5 hours to get here from Zagreb (today we need 2 hr). And I was spending entire summer there either with parents or some aunt, or some other grownup...
When I say my parents built it, I mean literally built it in some extent. My mother built an inner wall herself, with bricks and cement...
She put those stone plates on our fence by herself...Of course, main construction work was done professionally, but still, this house has an important role in our lives...
I am trying to take the best of it, and to give my kids what I had growing up...
PS: we counted foot-steps to the beach: 600 footsteps...
Wow your house sure is special, such a sweet story to go along with your photo. I'm a fan of summer too, it's when I get to enjoy my kids the most without a zillion things to do
@shylaine3304, I know Erika, enjoy while you can. They grow up so fast. Mine are teenagers, and I don't get to see them much at all, each has her own set of friends to spend time with...
@shylaine3304. Older girl is 16, and she is still close to me or home. Younger one is 13, and she is full hand high maintenance. Here at summer place she is nowhere to be found... (puberty hit her hard). But this is a nice small place very tame and peaceful, lot of kids her age she grew up with here, whose parents we know, so I have to keep saying myself she's fine. There are not so many places left in this world where you can let them be free... Boys get crazy little bit later- so enjoy...
@joemuli, Thanks- and it is not huge at all- 35 square meters- (times two-, one story for me, another for my brother), but it's more then plenty... I agree it looks big.
