My city is officially turned into a fairy-tale city.
I missed the official moments from the program on the first day, (cause I was sick) which were
1) Lighting the first candle on big city advent wreath by our Mayor.
2) Opening of ICE PARK in a very heart of a city
3) Official switching on of Christmas lights in central city park...
But I got some photos today...
This was taken between the day and evening, lights are already on, but it is not dark enough to see the magic. Still this felt like a good moment to capture the sign and start my walk through the advent...(it will get better)
I think it's so wonderful that the city celebrates the religious as well as the nonsacred aspects of Christmas. This is pretty, with the autumn colored leaves on the trees behind the gazebo. I'm looking forward to your walk through advent.
It's nice that the city recognizes that Advent comes before Christmas. Here in the US, I think only the churches remember the Advent season.
I'll be following along with your walk through Advent--looking forward to every day.
This week the lights will be going on all around Boston, and I'm excited and will be out and about too. I hope to get some good photos.
Thank you for your comments on Advent, and for sharing your thoughts about advent celebration in general...
