Gate to Paradise

photo 24
Today's plan was to do something fun! I wanted to either go to a local park, barn hunting, Henry Ford Museum, a cemetery, or the Detroit Zoo to shoot some pictures. We ended up heading west to hunt for some barns. We drove a bit farther than we intended and ended up in Irish Hills at some friends' farm. We had some good times there but it's been about 5 years since we've been out there. Drove down their dirt road up to their barn and 'the house' and on the way back to the swimming hole (Dewey Lake) we stopped to take a picture of this gate. We really need to make a point of going out there this summer and spending some time there.

Happy Birthday Karen ! Yes my dads birthday was the 16th. He is the reason I am in love with photography . I am a West Michigan 365er .I am thinking about going to Greenfield Village sometime over Memorial Day have you ever been?
If you ever want to come over to the West side there are some amazing places in SW Michigan to shoot orchards/vineyards/beaches!

Thanks everyone! Yesterday was a great day and I ended up at a place with lots of great memories!

Cathy, I hope my daughter feels the same way about why she loves to take pictures! She is happilybarefoot here on 365 and she is the reason I joined here.

I LOVE Greenfield Village! That is their Civil War Days so I'll be going there too. I'm also going next Sunday with my online photography group. I have a membership and I live about 10 minutes away so I go there quite often. I'd love to come to your area too! I'm going to try to go to the John Ball Zoo this summer in Grand Rapids. One of my caterpillar photos is being used for the sign on their permanent monarch display. I would like to see it in person.

Here is my album of Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village on facebook. There are a lot of pics so don't feel you have to look at all of them.

Awesome pic Karen,
The way the plants and flowers are growing up through the long unused gate and the subdued colors all conjure up the image of a relaxed country life... Which is beautiful.

I have had a membership at GFV for about 10 years now. And I definately get my moneys worth out of it, lol. I'm not far away from it either. I drive those people crazy with my constant questions, lol. Its a great place for sure. Whether you are taking pictures or not :)

I hope you have gone to the Holiday Nights. Like the Civil War Remembrance, it is really special and fun.
