National Mining Museum, near Wakefield Yorkshire

Possibly the best museum in the world, an hour and a half tour 450 ft down in a mine dating back to the early nineteenth century. All free and run by lovely people and ex-miners. But due to the threat of explosions I couldn't take my camera down, so had to settle with some artifacts on the surface.

Oh, also could have probably made this more interesting but it's SOOC because I'm on my laptop dock and big screen which always makes photoshop crash, biazarrely?!?

Great photo of this historical gem, but you can tell me about what it's lie down there, coz I can guarantee you that I will never do that descent. I think you are very brave.

@shutterbugger the battery of a phone causes small sparks and things like diesel fumes and coal dust which are in the air can ignite, I even had to hand in my camera, phone and take my watch off, and my car keys because of the fob!!

@murnane as soon as we arrived we were packed into a lift, in the dark with 19 others, squashed face to face so the descent was even grimmer!! But excellent!

Love the colours and composition of this shot Dave!

I love the colors and contrast with the darkness. I get claustrophobic even thinking about going down in this mine.
