Flare

So I have a camera that is dedicated to flare and crazy cool effects.

My Smena 8, and it did this SOOC no messing about with software or nuttin.

high five you guys for your ace commenting, I've been silly busy recently with working, Cutaway magazine is going on sale, at last, and I've been sending contributors copies out, and my masters assessment due in is getting close, but then its the summer!! whoooo.

For those who get all excited and stuff - Tesco 35mm 200ISO expired, shot at infinity focus and full sun exposure (f11)

What a funky flare and all natural, too :)!

@jannaellen it looked better on my computer screen, it hurts my eyes a bit here, but it is pretty cool how I was looking just at a black tree against a blue sky and I've got all sorts of colours in there. thanks!

I think I can download a patch for the latest camera app, to make my iPad pictures look like this......pffft. I love that this is in camera.

Now I want a Smena 8. We should mail each other our cams and do a trade for a month.

hmmm
I almost am tempted by that but the postage would cost more than a Sardina!!!

@pwallis erm, message above, I forgot to click reply. ;)
this is no way as cool as your sardina shots btw, the smena is nice but its pretty typical.

Oh waw I like this, I need to start shooting photos like this with film rather than doing it in photoshop

@gracej brilliant adjective usage

So cool, I've found a 2002 B&W ISO 400 roll of film, just need to find the time to play! ; )

@lorraineb
what camera do you have?
posted May 8th, 2012
@chewyteeth A Centon DF300, a Pentax Spotmatic F and a Zenit ET. Any advice would be gratefully received, I haven't used them for about 20 years! (and I know batteries will be a good start! ; )

@lorraineb
There're better people than me to give advice. Just get your batteries and film off ebay rather than camera shops, and don't worry about getting expired film. Has the Zenit for a helios 44 lens, the Pentax a 50mm 1.8 lens? I'd wanna try the Pentax if I was you I think, get that back up and running. Good collection. ;)

I just like it!

@roville well thankyou.

Grimey! I'm not to sure how I feel about the severe end of all this Lomo stuff, I have only seen a handful of images where I go yeah.. That's what it is about. Yet at the same time I find my Holga Lens so much fun but all I get from them is vignette and added grain plus a lot of soft focus.

@teamoliver I take it you don't like this then?
posted May 9th, 2012
@chewyteeth I'm not overly keen mate, its what I would have deemed a bad picture back in the day!
posted May 9th, 2012
You know the ones they stick the stickers all over!
posted May 9th, 2012
@teamoliver oh for sure, although its a bit of a fad now I reckon. Purist versus experimenter maybe??
posted May 9th, 2012
No I'm all for experimentation but can this really be classed as such? @chewyteeth
posted May 9th, 2012
Some one needs to come along and smash the rule books up and create some new rules to ignore. While rules work for photography I cant help looking at the images of the people who write the books I'm reading and thinking that's whack, boring, same, oh yeah look another one!
posted May 9th, 2012
@teamoliver Don't know what you want me to say? I see it as experimentation just because phones/software offer so much fake lomo burns, that to achieve the real thing by using expired film, Russian camera and opening the camera back just for the right period of time feels like a success. I reckon its not everyones cup of tea for sure but its a style I like. Its what I used to do in software and now I do in real.
posted May 9th, 2012
@chewyteeth It makes perfect sense to do it all in camera, However I like the images on your blog where you added the lomo much more than this in particular, that's not to say I would not like any other frames from the same film.

And I don't think that there is much you can say to that, its a very rhetorical question.

Its a beautiful thing to be human and have individual tastes.

@teamoliver
for sure.

@chewyteeth Do you not use Flickr? I'd like to see the rest of the set. I think the lack of composition doesn't help this one much.
posted May 9th, 2012
@teamoliver
I do use flickr, I'll post some on there maybe and link you to it, I'm in the 365 flickr group. Lack of composition too eh?
Anything else?
posted May 9th, 2012
@chewyteeth nah thats it lol, I've been banned from said group for calling Jase an arse-hole, part of that bad day!

@lily
