Today we travelled over to Hamilton again so we could take some other family members to visit the new baby. This photo is of my mother and her great-granddaughter meeting for the first time. Mum enjoyed the cuddles while Thea, who is now three weeks old, slept on!
Today was also Anzac Day, a public holiday in New Zealand. It commemorates all New Zealanders killed in war and also honours returned servicemen and women. The date itself marks the anniversary of the landing of New Zealand and Australian soldiers – the Anzacs – on the Gallipoli Peninsula (Turkey) in 1915, where thousands of lives were lost.
