Yesterday we had to decide between the opportunity to photograph a junior hockey game or visit family in Hamilton. Of course family won!
This afternoon @nzkites thought he would like to photograph some sporting activity with his new long lens, so we drove to several of the local sports fields but there were no games being played. Then he suggested we could visit the nearby beach and photograph surfers, but when we got there the water was calm and flat. So his third suggestion was 'let's go for a walk around the Mount' (Mt Maunganui, aka Mauao). We hadn't done this for a while so off we set, cameras in hand, for an enjoyable and rain-free walk around the base track. This was my favourite photo of the day, looking across to Matakana Island from the base of Mauao.
