It was another wet day today. At John's suggestion, we went for a drive along the waterfront and into town late this afternoon, looking for photo opportunities that were at least partly under cover.
This historic building was the original headquarters of the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club in the 1930's. It was then used by the local rowing club before being converted to a restaurant in the 1980's.
It's tucked in beneath the railway bridge, a small part of which can be seen on the left of this image, and the dining area has a lovely view over the water.
It's been a while since we visited this part of town so I had a quick look at the new (to us) walkway that runs along here. We'll have to put it on the list to return on a nicer day. This was photographed with my phone from the walkway.
We seem to have been let off lightly this time with the bad weather, but other parts of the country have not been so fortunate. Heavy rain and strong winds have caused flooding, downed trees and power outages in several areas of the North Island.
