This photo was taken at the end of the road about 3 blocks from where you saw the high school seniors celebrating in the fountain in yesterday's photo. Beyond the Spanish moss is a tiny lily pond (notice the blue among the trees) and beyond that is Lake Jesup. At 16,000 acres, Lake Jesup is one of the largest lakes in Florida and is part of the St. John's River. It is home to ospreys, bald eagles & alligators. Let's say that on this recent photo op afternoon, I was attempting to locate some of the above. Alas not, but there's always next time!
Gotta love the spanish moss, if you live in the south! Lovely shot, Carole! Always seems to hang from oak trees! Have never seen any in a pine tree or sweet gum. Have you?
@marlboromaam Thanks, Maggie. Oh yes, they are definitely found on pine trees as well as Sweet Gums. We have tons of both in our neighborhood. I will look thru my shots last yr. and see if I can find any on those particular trees & send you the link.
@vikoko@kerristephens@mittens@marlboromaam@annbo Ann, I have lots of photos of Spanish moss in previous photos in my Year One Album @lizzy_lu123@gijsje@claireuk Claire, I'll stay my distance but still would like to capture one in the wild. I got one in captivity last yr, but that doesn't count ;-) Thank you all "big time" for being such faithful friends!
@tamsg4@bkbinthecity@olivetreeann@mrssmith@tobi Thank you all for looking. We have Spanish Moss at practically every house in our neighborhood, and I never really appreciated it until I became active on 365. I have posted quite a few mossy photos.
Thank you all for your visits and comments. Always love to hear from you and view your great photos. Myrna, Are you talking about the gators? LOL....I really don't know but I think I wouldn't want to be around when they're hungry ;-)
