@LaLa Thank you! Yes, it was about 7:30, so the sun had set, but there was some soft light from the window. I set my ISO higher than I normally do (3200, I think). I also think the magazine helped bounce some light into her face. I'm taking an online workshop right now on light and I'm finding I'm noticing things like that so much more than before...
@cjoye That is awesome ------ I know every time I read or see other photos I'm just becoming a sponge. At first I didn't know how much was into photography (just thought it was point and shoot). I have learned so much and so glad to continue - it's fun.
@LaLa I feel the exact same way. The daily practice required here has made a huge difference, I think. Plus, seeing all the great work of others. My husband gave me a two-hour private lesson with a local photographer and I'm excited to get some hands-on instruction.
@cjoye I was wondering because I was thinking of taking that one. I can't do it now because I just bought a new camera and lens though. I hadn't thought of looking for them on FB.
@tracys I usually just buy the course and download all the materials to look at when I have the time--I rarely do the live/forum stuff. What lens did you buy? And Tarah Sweeney, one of the photographers, is local here in San Diego. I've actually considered booking a session with her for some whole-family shots (all six of us), but I think I could buy a new lens for the cost of a session!
@tracys Oh, what a great lens to have. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming photographs. As for going pro, I think one of the best things you can do is follow others who have already done it and see if they offer courses or tips on how to get started. I've definitely considered it, although my dream would be humanitarian photography.
@vignouse Thank you! I read your bio today and I love your evolving and creative approach to this project. Looking forward to following along and learning...
I follow two of the five photographers on FB and just love their work.
