Twirl

Trying to learn how to adjust the tone curve HSL (beyond just saturation) and what effects I can achieve with them instead of relying so heavily on presets. It sure is nice to be able to tone down a garish green wall or enhance a lovely lavender leotard.
What is your editing process? Do you manually adjust everything or use presets?
Most of time manually adjust. But no logic to the manual just slide sliders here and there until it "feels" right. Lovely shot.

I usually use Manual, and just "tweak" things till i get the desired effect :)

just love this and that desaturated colour works so well here to keep our attention on the subject

I have never used presets. My workflow is bring down the highlights, up the shadows, tweak the whites and the blacks. Then from there work the contrast and the exposure then on to the tone curves ... just working down the development module in LR until it all looks right.

@moonmtn Your workflow sounds a lot like mine, although I do use presets sometimes, especially ones I've created myself. It's the tone curves and adjustment brushes that I have yet to learn...but they're on the list!

@newbank @susannah98 Thanks for the input! I love hearing about other people's processes and workflows.

@pistache Thank you! Toning down that green wall definitely helped. I really wanted to highlight the movement of her hair and skirt, despite the other distractions.
