The first night of our trip was spent in Waikiki. With my mother's advice to "put your camera down once in a while, Christine" ringing in my ears, I put on my bathing suit and swam in the warm waters of the Pacific at sunset. Watching the sailboats silhouetted along the horizon, the fiery orb sinking behind them, I will admit to having to fight back pangs of regret--but only for a moment. It was heaven. And then the next night on the North Shore, I snapped about a million shots of the sun setting, including this one. I feel like the skies rewarded my patience.
