Was both nervous and excited to get a shot of this beauty that was resting just outside our front door! Took tons of courage for me to get close enough for a shot. Every little twitch he made kept my heart jumping! haha. Took this photo using my Raynox DCR-150 macro converter, which did a mighty fine job in magnifying the details. I'm just amazed at the creepiness of this spider while at the same time in awe of it's gorgeous design and colors. o_0
My macro diopter, called the Raynox DCR-150 was really handy for this shot. It's kind of like a filter as it snaps right on to the front of the lens. It's able to increase the magnification of a standard lens giving it a macro effect. While not as powerful as a true macro lens, it was much cheaper (a standard macro for my camera costs about between 400 to 800 bucks while this was only $70). I'm learning that with macro shots you have to physically move yourself forward and back to get the shallow depth of field in just the right spot.
Fav -- for the shot and the bravery! Great one, including the DoF that captured such amazing details in the spider and maintained enough focus to convey the web clearly.
Ive gotten some shots of spiders but I'd never get close enough or even 5 feet away to get a shot of a spider that looks that ginormous lol great detail and bravery lol
