For letter "J" in my Technique Alphabet, I'm creating juxtaposition (pronounced jocks-tuh-poh-sit-shun). One dictionary defines juxtaposition as “the act of placing things side by side, especially for the purpose of comparison or contrast.” In photography, it's normally done by accident but can also be forced as long as it makes the viewer think carefully about how the subjects compare and/or contrast.
The great thing about juxtapostion is that we may create them all the time in our photography without even knowing: a bright yellow flower in your vase of pink daisies, taking a shot of your kids, one smiling, while the other is making a face, or maybe even watching a giant human photographer taking photos of a little Legographer! ◠‿◠
@cathieg@joemuli@lesip - Really appreciate the kind words Cathie, Leslie, and Joey! Glad you like it so much!
@grammyn - Thanks Katy! First off, that's me holding an old film camera that I got a long time ago from a good friend, while my DSLR is on a self timer taking the photo from a distance. I had 12 seconds to get in position near CJ before the shutter fired. When taking macro shots, I sometimes use my shoe to balance my lens and keep things stable. So you're seeing part of me in one of my natural macro stances. :)
