(Day 303) - L is for Light Painting

Today's technique is much safer for my camera than yesterday's kinetic shot. I wanted to do a more literal interpretation of light painting, which is using a long shutter speed and a light source to capture streams of light.

My light source was a flashlight with the bulb turned toward my camera lens. It created a good trail but was a tad unpredictable. Still, this was really fun to do! I've seen some super creative light paintings on 365. Have you tried this technique before? ◕‿◕
I have tried it but never with this fabulous result! Well done, Chis! So creative and informative!

I like the 3d look that you got in the actual light trail. Mine have so far always looked flat.

@francoise - Tell you the truth, the same has happened to me many times where the light would look flat. I thought this would do the same but was pleasantly surpised it didn't. Maybe it was the angle.

I have! And it's so fun. Here's the light painting I did to celebrate completing year #4. As you can see I was using one of those spinning lights so it was a little tricky to catch the writing within the picture frame!

I see toothpaste. Nope, I haven't tried it.

@olivetreeann - Awesome light painting photos Ann! I love how neon the light looks. Its shape kind of reminds me of the Slinky toy.

@amandal - Haha you know what Amanda, that would make a great light painting subject, "light painting toothpaste!" :D
