Letter "P" of my Technique Alphabet is featuring panning. It's really fun panning your camera in time with moving subjects and watching the way subject stays relatively sharp but the background blurs. Love the way this technique gives a wonderful sense of motion. ◕‿◕
confess. Did you just go out and get this shot? Or did you have to take 1000 shots to get this awesome one? (I guess you can tell that I've been perplexed by the mechanics of panning)
@francoise - Surprisingly it actually didn't take me many shots to get this one. The cars weren't driving very fast on this street so they were easy to follow. I also tried a slower shutter speed then I normally do for panning shots, 1/15 sec. I tried keeping a very steady hand while following because camera shake can still be an issue for sharpness. Guess all the factors worked in my favor this time as it usually takes me a lot longer to get a good one. To tell you the truth, I really want to get a panning shot where the background becomes extremely blurry lines like I see in some images. Gotta keep practicing.
