Today I used candy called Lemonheads to create an image of a video game legend who is usually just a head in most games - Pac-Man!!
I learned today that the Japanese creator of Pac-Man got the inspiration after looking at a pie that missing two slices and thus resembled a mouth! What resulted was Pakkuman – a name derived from a Japanese phrase used to describe the sound a mouth makes when it’s opened widely and then closed again in close succession.
Pac-Man loves to eat and I love to eat candy. We'd get along very well! ᗧ···•···
@joysabin - That took a bit of digging to find out. I always forget they're ghosts! As I kid, I thought they were octopus and some old arcade machines do call them that. However when the game was made on the classic Atari video game system, technical limitations caused these enemies to flicker and that game's manual dubbed them "ghosts" so as to cover up the flaw. The term stuck and soon spread to all Pac-Man merchandise.
Ugh...bad memories of losing quarters. My brother didn't mind, thought and got quite good at pakkuman (will have to tell him your trivia). Great representation.
@cjphoto thanks I shouldn't have been so lazy myself- I know how to google. It is cool how the name came about because of a technical thing. PS this was a way cool idea!
@joysabin - No problem! I love looking up stuff like this especially since I really like video games. It's something how even technical limitations helped game creators become creative! It kind of inspires me because in a similar way most of my photos use really simple ideas and compositions and they work out well! :)
