CJ is exploring Downtown Long Beach near the pier. In 1902, this spot was called The Pike, an amusement pier with a rollercoaster and a variety attractions. It drew tens of thousands of visitors becoming the leading amusement attraction in Los Angeles. By 1955, it fell into disrepair and when Disneyland opened that same year, The Pike was closed down.
In 2003, the Pike Outlets opened featuring restaurants, shops, and movie theaters. The "rollercoaster" in the background is just a facade built as a tribute to The Pike's legacy.
Of course, we can't forget about this awesome white Ferris Wheel, which is solar-powered! I'm happy to found a Ferris Wheel where I could get down low and photograph CJ from the ground. It's so much taller than him too...as tall as a palm tree! 🎡😁
