(Day 305) - Peering the Pier

CJ made his way down to the iconic Santa Monica Pier. The pier was first built in 1909 as a means to run sewage pipes underneath and dump it into the ocean. Thankfully, this practice was discontinued. However, fishing and views from the pier were so popular that it became an amusement park in 1916. Today, it hosts the world’s very first solar powered Ferris Wheel. Very nice to go from dumping sewage to using green energy.

CJ enjoyed trudging through the sand and carefully walking along railings to get views of the pier and beach on this sunny day. Well, it started off sunny. A marine layer quickly came in and we had to bundle up! 🎡😁
Fun and creative shots! We took the kids here a few years ago. A fun place for sure.

I'm a bit weak in the knees seeing CJ balanced on that pipe. Hope he's got sticky feet!

@kwind - Thank you so much! Oh, I bet they had a blast. It's a fun place to hang out with the family.

@wendyfrost - Thank you Wendy! We really enjoyed our time here.

@francoise - Hahahaha I was feeling exactly the same way taking these photos on the dock. No other location made me feel as uneasy. But, yes, made sure CJ had very sticky feet here. He thanks you for your concern, Francoise.
