The itsy bitsy spider

It really wasn't so itsy bitsy. It was more like big green meanie!

This Green Lynx Spider was hiding in the wildflowers. I watched it for awhile. I saw it try to jump on a Buckeye butterfly. It missed and fell. I thought that was funny! It also had its sticky legs on a Skipper butterfly, but the skipper got away, too. It did finally catch a little sweat bee. Poor little bee!

I try to leave nature alone, except for pics, but it's hard when I know the spider is under a leaf waiting for unsuspecting butterflies.

Thank you for looking at my pics and commenting! Your input is always appreciated! :0)
OMG - This is a HUGE spider. What an interesting green body and almost translucent legs. Love the vibrant flowers.

Oh my goodness- not so itsy is right! That is huge! I love the color of it with that purple! I hope it is not harming any of the butterflies you are going to photograph!!!

Wonderful capture! I've never seen a spider like this before! Even though it creeps me out, it's cool to see the different critters in your neck of the woods!

Great shot of the mean greenie. I struggle to cope with nature sometimes too.

Great capture! At first, I did not see the spider and thought this was just a beautiful flower picture. Just like me-to not notice a spider! I pick flowers for a vase and then find spiders on them! Great detail.

Facinating spider, quite like the patterns on it's back. Great shot
September 3rd, 2011
Aww, poor butterflies! Fascinating looking spider, but I still don't like them :oP
September 3rd, 2011
I'd hate to pick those flowers. I didn't notice the spider at first, I was captivated with the beautiful vibrant flowers... then my eyes drifted over the centre and I saw the beastie! Excuse me whilst I run away now!

Wow, this is very cool! Love him!

I had to Fav him, he's so cool looking! I know exactly what you mean about leaving nature to fend for itself. I bet you were cheering out loud when the butterflies got away...poor bee. I would've had to turn my back and look away...or maybe it's like a train wreck - you want to look away but can't.

Wow, that's one scary looking spider! I'm not really afraid of them, but this is a bit to close for comfort! really cool capture!

One shouldn't be sipping coffee when enlarging one of Carolyns nature pics. The "itsy bitsy" spider label.......OMG I nearly snorted coffee over my keyboard! Not a spider fan but I have to say she is absolutely gorgeous, hairy legs and all. Beautiful capture Carolyn.

@kazzamazoo Thank you! I'm sorry about your coffee! :0)

I'd say he's not so itsy bitsy as he is the jolly green giant!!! Great capture.
September 14th, 2011
The color of this spider is amazing. And the closeup details are so clear you can see every hair on his scary legs! It's beautiful and ugly at the same time. Really nice shot.
