I thought all the frogs would be hibernating by now, but this little Cope's Gray Treefrog was sitting on my back steps. I was looking for a place to take a pic of a beetle and there it was! I let the beetle go. LOL!
I think it might be one of the treefrogs that gets on my kitchen window at night. It's fascinating to watch them catch moths. I haven't seen one in about a week. I thought they were tucked in for the winter. When reading about these treefrogs, I found out they have a high tolerance for freezing temperatures due to glycerol in their blood.
I was able to take lots of pics, before the cats saw it. I put it on the side of the house as high as I could reach. I thought it would stay there. Nope, it jumped right in the middle of the cat herd. I did some yellling and jumping myself to get it before the cats did!!! I took it to a tree away from the house. The last time I saw it, it was climbing up some vines. :0)
Thank you so much for your comments on yesterday's milkweed bug pic! I now have six milkweed bugs in a fish bowl with milkweed leaves and seeds. :0)
The way he is looking... he looks so sweet! Isn't the theme this week "peaceful" or something like that. I'd tag this for it. The colors are calm and serene too. I do not think we have tree frogs around here. If we do, I never see them. Darn. This is phenomenal and I cracked up about how he jumped off into the cat herd! Maybe he is suicidal and needs therapy.
What awesome textures! I would like to see him catch a moth, I'll bet that looks odd (but so sorry for the moth)
