This is a new butterfly for my project. It's a Common Checkered Skipper. I've taken pics of them before, but it's hard to get a decent shot. They move around quickly!
Late this afternoon, I counted eight Cabbage Whites on the asters. It's really the only plant I have that still has blooms. There were several of the checkered skippers, too. :0)
Thank you so much for your comments and faves on my treefrog and white butterfly!!! Your kind words really mean a lot to me. I've been struggling with my pics the last few days. All my favorite places have lots of memories of Red M and Sneezy. They were always with me and I miss them.
I don't think I've ever seen one of these butteflies. She's a beauty!! I am sorry about your kitties. I have been thinking of you during this tough time.
I can't believe you are able to keep finding these beautiful and unusual butterfies. I haven't seen any butterfies around here for weeks. Nice capture.
Your comments made me sad Caroline - we miss Red M and Sneezy too. Maybe you'll have to get another cat??? Lovely capture - you can see such detail in the body and wings.
Checkered skipper is fun to say:) I'm sorry you're still struggling with your loss. It's understandable though - they're a huge part of our lives. More so than a lot of people in our life. I get weepy just thinking about losing either of my guys:(
Are you having an Indian summer like us in the UK? We seem to have winter one week, then summer, then back to autumn. The plants and birds seem really confused!
@anitahoyle Yes, our weather changes almost day by day. Yesterday was blue skies and it was warm. Today, it is rainy and cold. The wind has been blowing and the leaves are falling. :0)
Thinking about you and your kitties...
