I've been hearing my Red-bellied Woodpecker for weeks, but he would never come close enough for a pic. He was in the top of one of the trees when I went outside this morning. I stood still in the cold forever waiting for him to come down. My feet were frozen by the time he decided I wasn't a threat, but it was worth it. :0)
You are waaay more dedicated than I am to get a photo, and it shows in the quality of your photo. The lingering observation in my mind is: his belly isn't red, so why is he called red-belly?
