@koalagardens They must feel safer when it's raining. I always see more at the feeders, when it's raining. I have several Red Tailed Hawks in my area. They are large predators. The Blue Jays are good at sounding an alarm. Even if I haven't heard the alarm, I know when they are around. The birds go silent and hide in the shadows.
interesting! makes sense that if the hawks are not hunting in the rain the little birds will be aware.
I've had an explosion of little birds around the house since planting a lot of bushy natives, because it gives them shelter from the predator birds. I'd love to see blue jays, they are so beautiful
