It was another cold day! I wore my sock monkey hat, but I didn't need the big furry hood. The wind wasn't as bad.
Many of you have requested a selfie of me wearing the hat. I looked at myself in the mirror today with the hat on and I don't see it happening!!! I don't really care for pics of myself and I look extremely goofy with the hat on! LOL!
The Northern Mockingbird is the Tennessee state bird. They are known to mimic the songs of other birds and can have as many as 200 distinct song types.
I found out a fun fact. They can mimic man-made devices, too. They've been known to mimic musical instruments, warning bells, cell phones, car horns, and creaky hinges. :0)
Thank you for your lovely comments on my bird pics!!! I promise I'm going to post pics of other things, but I'm really having fun chasing the birds right now. :0)
If a mockingbird doesn't sing.... well guess I am never going to get that diamond ring because mockingbirds sing and sing and sing ! I think they are amazing birds!
@potsbypam Thank you, Pam! As a former teacher, I really had a hard time putting the word don't in the title, but I googled the song and that's how it's worded. :0)
You are doing a fab job on the birds, and I'm envious of your new lens. The mockingbird in the TX state bird, too. They can make a sound like winding a [very, very old-fashioned] alarm clock.
Wow what a sweet shot. I am still trying to get a crisp shot of a bird. We both shot a red belly woodpecker the other day. I told you yours was better, I saw it on the PP. Great job!
@5unflow3r Thanks, Trina! Wasn't it a mockingbird that attacked MaryBeth? They haven't bothered me yet. They are too busy flying away from my camera! I was lucky to sneak up on this one. LOL!
Amazing details and colour and lighting. Totally drooling over your lens - is it heavy or hard to work with?
Like Karen said , I want to see your hat! *lol*
Thanks for all your comments/favs on my project - you're the best! Glad to see you'll stay for 2012 as well.
@russianblue Thank you, Kass! The lens seemed really heavy at first, but I've gotten used to it now. It's easy to work with. I'm having so much fun with it! :0)
I have a sock monkey hat too - how about if we both do silly sock monkey selfies and then post them on the same day?.....
This is absolutely gorgeous Carolyn!
now I know what a mockingbird looks like faved
Remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” That was the only time I ever heard Atticus say it was a sin to do something, and I asked Miss Maudie about it.
“Your father’s right,” she said. “Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy . . . but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”
Such amazing details on this one. I love it. And I love mocking birds too. I love to hear them sing all their different "stolen" songs. They really are amazing.
