Today was a fun pic day! I had just put my zoom lens on to look for birds, when this beautiful Spicebush Swallowtail came along. :0)
Not long after, I was hanging around the apple tree again and saw a bird eating petals. I took two pics, before I realized what I was looking at. It was a Cedar Waxwing! I had never seen one in person. There were about six in the very top of the tree. I got a little dizzy snapping pics, but I snapped until they flew away. Posting one in my other album.
Thank you so much for your comments and faves on yesterday's grasshopper!!! :0)
Haven't seen a black swallowtail yet, but stumbled around in the woods chasing a yellow swallowtail. Lucky I didn't end up with poison ivy! Great detail on the antennae.
@robv Yes, I put it in my description. I thought it was a Black Swallowtail at first, but after I looked at it on the computer, I realized it was a Spicebush. I snapped an open wing shot, but this shot was a litle better. :0)
What a gorgeous catch here and also what an exciting day!! Such great finds . . don't you just love it when your camera's clicking away at something you love and have been looking for?!!
