That's a beautiful closeup. Are you using the telephoto to get that close? I'm assuming so because the exif info says 300 mm (I think that is what it means). If so, are you using a tripod? I cannot get this level of crystal clarity when I try to zoom with the telephoto. What's your secret?
@joelmalley Thank you, Joel! Yes, I used my Canon 75-300mm zoom lens for this one. I didn't use a tripod. I've only used my tripod for moon pics. Most of subjects are quick moving, so the I can't use a tripod. I really don't have a secret. I have a fairly steady hand. I think I hold my breath while taking shots like this. LOL! I have to make myself not get too close. I started out with a P&S and I had to get really close. It's a hard habit to break. :0)
I don't know how you do this, but your photos are always so clear. Every time I view your photos, I so want a macro lens, but guess I really better get the whole composition thing down first.
This is great! I think this is the same little flower/plant that my ladybug photo from about a week ago features....the one where the bug is in position just like the leaves are along the vine..head down and but up in the air between the leaves. I did not know this was called vetch. Learned something new today! YOu know alot about all things biology! And I hear you about the "getting too close" with the zoom....I do the macro with zoom lens too...have to until I get a macro lens. I want to get up on the insect, then wow...blurry! Back up back up! I know anyone watching me thinks I am stupid to be shooting the bushes in front of me with a zoom....oh well.
@espyetta Thank you, MaryBeth! I'm learning the names of everything as i go along. It took me awhile to find the vetch. I couldn't do it without my field guides. :0)
