Someone gave me a calendar for 2012 that is hummingbirds on flowers. It has been an inspiration for me this summer.
I check each morning to see if the hummingbirds are still here. I still have at least two. I really think they like to play games with me. If I'm looking at something else or taking a pic of a butterfly or cat, they sneak in quietly.
I decided to put a chair near the feeder this afternoon and wait them out. They would drink from the feeder and then go to the flowers. I took lots of pics to get this one, but it was so much fun! You have to focus and follow them the best you can. I'm really going to miss them when they leave! :0)
Fabulous shot! I love the curl of the little "feet" - and your color is amazing. Caught the light perfectly. He finally decided he wanted it bad enough that you didn't bother him. Good for your patience. Fav!
Great capture Caroline and well worth the wait. That is like so many subjects with photography. it is often best to wait for your subject to come into the frame
Congrats on PP. It was well worth the wait. When we were in New Hampshire this summer the Bed & Breakfast had hummingbird feeders all along their dining room windows. So i set up my tripod and sat on the grass and took lots of photos to get a couple of good ones but yours is even better because its with flowers instead of a feeder.
