I have two pics to post today. I took this pic of an Eastern Bluebird right after a scary experience with The Beast.
I had a crazy experience this morning. I was going out to take pics, but I needed to give the dogs a treat first.
I went out the front door with a large bowl of cooked oats in one hand and a cup of cat food in the other. The cat food was to appease the cats, while I fed the dogs.
I gave the cats their little snack and turned around to walk off the porch. I looked down in the bowl of oatmeal and there was a huge Black Widow spider floating on the top. I really don't remember what words came out of my mouth, but I'm sure they weren't G rated!
I can take pics of Green Lynx Spiders and Yellow Garden Spiders all day. I don't want them on me, but I know they are not venomous. Black Widows are and I've watched a little too much Nat Geo about them!!!
Jeff was home, so I got him to guard the beast, while I got my camera. I doused the door with spider spray first, because it had to have fallen from the top of the door! It was warm today and I had on short sleeves. My skin still crawls at the thought of it falling on my head or down my shirt!
I feel very lucky to have escaped unharmed, but with scary pics instead. Looking at it in the lens was so creepy!
I still don't know if it's dead. It's sealed tightly in a jar with some oatmeal. I know from past experience, they can play dead.
I'm posting the pic of the Black Widow floating in oatmeal in my other album. Check it out, if it doesn't creep you out too badly. :0)
What a nasty experience! Black Widows are close relatives of our Red-back Spiders, which are also venomous and we find them under every plant pot and piece of garden equipment that's been lying around for a while, so I know how scary this was for you. This shot is so beautiful that I instantly fav'd it before reading the story that goes with it.
WHAT! I know exactly what's words would have come out of my mouth! Most likely followed by me throwing up; I will view the thumbnail.
Anyhow's, this little shot is stunning, you brave girl
Wonderful shot of one of my favorite birds. OK, the shot of the spider freaked me out but now hearing your story is awful! I'm so thankful it fell in your oats . . .
