I think this is the point where he spotted me. This is a male Eastern Towhee. I've been hearing the Towhees all winter, but I've just started seeing them this past week. There was a pair looking for seeds on the ground under the feeders. I spotted them together in the woods earlier in the week. They are beautiful birds.

Love the towhees - yours are so similar to ours on the West Coast but without the spots. They are combative little birds but very fun to watch. Here they do go to the feeders, but mostly pick up seeds on the ground.
WOw! you got SOOOO close! I have only seen a Towhee one time. It was at school. I zoomed in to see what bird it was (after taking the pic) and saw the bold color blocking. I was so excited to see a new bird and get to hunt down what type it was. Your pic is excellent! You can see the gleam in his eyes!
